The Wessex sites primary aim is to give unrestricted electronic access to search a selection of fully transcribed and multiply indexed records and images for yourself. Many parishes in Eastern Hampshire are already incorporated to date, and new ones are added on a regular basis. Being a new site, the process of inclusion of new parishes is ongoing. And the rate of inclusion of records and images will be dependent on the frequency of the Wessex Site being accessed.
Why build the Wessex Site?
We have been involved in Family History Research for nearly a quarter of a century, a time which has seen many changes and advances in genealogical research methods.
Research via the Internet is not meant to replace traditional methods, but to utilise 21st century technology to make life, and research easier and more accesable.
The Records
The records that are on the Wessex Site are transcriptions. Copyright laws generally prevent imaging of the originals. All data wherever possible has been included, including incumbents comments. There are chronological and alpha listings in most instances. Great care has been taken to ensure that the transcriptions are accurate.
Once you have entered our record library you will be able to easily locate the parish you require and see instantly what records and images are already available to view. You will also be able to see records pending.
